Welcome to my website!
Please have a seat and let me pour you a cup of tea. Stay a while and look around. The website will be growing and changing as I add things and move things around, so do come back intermittently and check on the progress of my upcoming titles and other content.
News and Events:
October 28 ~ Thank you Apple iBooks readers for making CAVERSHAM'S BRIDE #1 in the Romance Category today! Thank you, I love you!
October 24 ~ I have to thank my UK readers for making MISS AMELIA LANDS A DUKE #2 in the Regency Historical category at Amazon.UK. You ladies (and gents) ROCK! I am beyond thankful... I'm humbled. Really.
September 23 ~We have a new cover for Lucky's Lady, the files for the old cover were lost, and my fab cover designer created a completely new cover for me. I actually love it better than the blue cover I already had. Here it is. Look! Very pretty, autumn-y looking, no?
ALSO, REMEMBER THE DATE: October 1, 2014..... Miss Amelia Lands A Duke will be available for purchase at all ebook stores online! Print copies will be available through Create Space and Amazon only.
September 6 ~ The leaves are changing color here in Central Virginia. I love autumn. It is my absolute favorite time of year. I love the nip in the evening air, as the temps slowly get cooler, the scent of crops harvested, tilled soil, and hay put away in the barn for winter. But I think my favorite thing is the fact that we don't have to ride the tractor or mowers for about seven or eight months. Stupid, I know....
A while back I promised to be better about updating my website, and that hasn't happened. I should probably keep a calendar and put that down as one of the 'things to do' each week. But which calendar do I put it on? I already have so many calendars that I have to consult each one when I can't remember which calendar I put what on. There's the one on my desk (which gets lost under the ever-growing pile of 'stuff'), the one on my phone (which I actually forget to consult), the one on the fridge (granted, the most important one, but still not updated as much as I should because I'm not always in the kitchen when I make an appointment,) and the one in the feed room (it has the family feeding schedule for the outdoor babies.) None of them is completely accurate, though none is actually inaccurate either! Thus the dilemma. There are scraps of paper all over the place from the various notepads around the house. I'll write something down, tear it off and... LOSE IT! Organization? You gotta know by now, it's not my strong suit!
Anyway, as you can probably guess, I have NEWS! (It seems that's the only time I update, huh?) MISS AMELIA LANDS A DUKE will be available for purchase on 10/1/14 as a standalone novella. It has been available since 6/30 as one of the novellas in the SCANDALOUS SUMMER NIGHTS boxed set, but that agreement was just for three months and (sadly) our boxed set comes down on 9/30. But I'm ready to go, and there will be no lapse in availability. Here's the wonderful cover created by Kim at The Killion Group. Isn't it just fabulous? My oldest daughter is doing the formatting and we should have a completed file before the end of the weekend.
But that isn't the only news I have, though I don't have a completed cover yet (I still need to write my back cover blurb,) LUCKY'S LADY, (The Caversham Chronicles, Book Four) will be released in November. Not quite sure about the date yet, but I'm hoping for Thanksgiving week AT THE LATEST. If I can get it together before that, then I might make it a birthday present to myself and take a few days off!
If that isn't enough, the audio version of LOVING SARAH is in production. I've heard snippets and the fabulous Dennis Kleinman and Victoria Mayers have nailed Ian and Sarah. Ian is an American, born of Scottish parents and forced to live in England to prepare for the day he inherits his grandfather's title. So the accent wasn't exactly the easiest to manage but Dennis nailed it. He is doing a fabulous job. Anyway, that will also be on sale at some point this autumn.
And as soon as I get those edits for Lucky's book off my plate, I'll get back to work 'my girls' (book five.) Sometimes I think I've bitten off more than I can chew with that one. I have a vision and a plot, but sometimes my characters don't behave the way I want them to. (Though after raising two real daughters I can deal with it.)
In closing, here is gratuitous pic of handsome puppy who will be seven months old in a few days. This was taken just moments ago. He's grounded and is in puppy time out because he chased new kitty into the bedroom. Attila knows he's not supposed to chase the cats. He learned this very early on. But new kitten (#18) arrived Thursday and is still frightened of big bad Attila the Pup, so when I let Attila back in, kitten ran and Attila chased. Bad Attila. You're grounded.
Here is pic of ridiculously cute #18. He still needs a name, though I'm leaning toward Burt (because I have an Ernie) OR Samuel for Samuel Clemens. (Ernie is actually named for Ernest Hemingway.) About four or five cats back we ran out of names on the CATS playbill, and started going with American Authors. We have Ernie and Zane (Gray) and I think this is likely to be Samuel. (But he and Ernie are such buddies, it sounds natural to call him Burt!)
That's it for right now. Can't think of anything I've forgotten. Have a great week! And if I'm not back for a few months, well... that's about normal for me. Isn't it? You can be sure I'm working--either writing or taking care of the babies, but I'm working!
July 30th ~ Once again our annual RWA conference was great success. I love San Antonio, and have been many times when I lived here in Texas. The best thing about conference is seeing my friends that live all over the world. Our conference is like a gathering of girlfriends who talk online to each other, but really only get to see each other this one time a year. We take workshops put on by some of the best and most knowledgable in our industry, we compare notes, talk shop, and plan career strategies all while consuming minute amounts of alcohol.
Wait, I lied.... We consume massive amounts of alcohol.
And then we cheer for each other at the awards ceremony and vow to try again next year. Maybe then we'll be lucky enough to get a nomination or, if we are so blessed, win that coveted Golden Heart or RITA.
We come home after each conference with a *glow* from too much food and too many ideas. And we promise ourselves we will implement those new ideas into our next book, and/or our business strategies. That's what I'm trying to figure out right now. I'm plotting out a new series for an editor (and friend!) that asked, and am trying to work the first one into my calendar for 2015... along with the other two books and novella already planned.
So it looks like the next few years will be busy indeed. But it's a good kinda busy. Really it is.
At the Lady Authors' party! (from left: Jennifer McQuiston, me, Vicky Dreiling, Ella Quinn)
July 8th ~ Well the Facebook Launch Party was a HUGE success! Than
k you to everyone who came, interacted and entered the contests. I have taken all the gifts in my care to the PO this past Saturday morning, so you should be getting them soon!
SCANDALOUS SUMMER NIGHTS is doing very well at all e-tailers and we're now a Bestseller at All Romance eBooks! Here's a cute little badge they gave us. I don't know how to make it a link, but here's the page at ARe: https://www.allromanceebooks.com/product-scandaloussummernights-1559560-166.html
The group of us authors are cross-promoting each others' stories in the collection and today I'm going to highlight Vivienne Westlake's Lady Northam's Wicked Surrender.
And that's not all.... You know you're going to get one, so here it is. Puppy CUTENESS! Ridiculously Cute Puppy loves ice cubes. OMG does he love ice cubes! He'll come running from another room when he hears me filling my glass with ice. Of course I have to give him one. He won't leave me alone until he gets it!
June 21, 2014 ~ We have our page up for the Facebook launch party on June 30th for our Scandalous Summer Nights Boxed Set release! It's got a beautiful banner thanks to Lindsey Ross at Cut7Paste, and we're in the final preps for organizing with all our guest authors. My guests are two terrific authors that I'm lucky enough to call friends, Vicky Dreiling and Sylvia McDaniel. This will be my first ever Facebook Launch Party. I've been Sylvia's guest once and it was loads of fun. My guest spot time flew by. We're doing something very similar to Sylvia's party with guests and prizes, Q&A with all seven of us who contributed to the boxed set and our guests.
Here's the link and the cool banner Lindsey made: http://goo.gl/ifFlp4
I really hope you will stop by and join the fun on June 30th, 2014, from noon to 7:00 p.m. Pacific, 3:00 to 10:00 p.m. Eastern.
June 13, 2014 ~ News? Why, yes! I have news!
The novella I wrote during March has been edited, revised, given a title and is about to be released on June 30th. MISS AMELIA LANDS A DUKE is a part of the SEDUCTIVE SUMMER NIGHTS boxed set with six other very talented authors. This is what I posted (below) on Facebook and G+, then did a shorter version for Twitter.
Grace Callaway, Sabrina Darby, Jennifer Haymore, Sue London, Kate McKinley, Sandy Raven and Vivienne Westlake would all like to invite you to share in a few Scandalous Summer Nights. Available 6/30/14 at all major e-bookstores.
Isn't it just fabulous? I'm beside myself with how beautiful it is. And, from what I've read of my co-participant's stories they are just as fabulous as the cover! I do hope everyone enjoys our SEDUCTIVE SUMMER NIGHTS offering. It'll be on sale on 6/30/14, just in time for the Fourth of July weekend!
He sees one of the two foot rests to my two Adirondack chairs that were carried off the deck when my lake flooded in all the rain last month. They're all the way in the corner of the inlet (top of the pic)... waiting for my husband to go get them. (I would do it but there's snakes in there and I don't like snakes!)
April 22, 2014 ~ So... even though I said I needed to be better about updating, I haven't done so, have I? But I really do have a good reason. Really, I do!
I spent the entire month of March writing a novella, then I sent it to my editor and she is already sending me back chapters with her comments and suggested revisions. I started doing them as she started sending them, so hopefully I'll make my turn in to the managing editor for the boxed set. This is an exciting first for me, as I've never been a part of an anthology or boxed set before.
And there's even more news. I've kind of been keeping under wraps for a while because I was asked to... but I'm such a proud mom, my pride demands to be shared. My oldest daughter is getting married this weekend. My D1 has been the apple of my eye since before she was born. I am so proud of her and the choices she's made with her life, including the new son-in-law I'll be welcoming into the family this weekend.
But that's not all, dear reader. Oh, no.... On Mother's Day weekend, my second daughter (D2), graduates from college. While D1 is the apple, D2 is my sunshine. She's the most like me. I see so much of myself in her that it's scary. Her heart is so pure and her will so strong, she'll succeed at anything she sets her mind to. And mom's going to be here cheering her on the whole time!
The day after she graduates, we leave for RT in New Orleans (I'm bringing D2 and my new VA with me.) I'll be on a panel with several superstar authors and... sigh... how I got lucky enough to get on that I never know. ;-) I'll have to contain myself and not go all fan-girl on them. So look for me in the HOW TO BE A HAPPY HOOKER workshop, along with Shana Galen, Miranda Neville, Valerie Bowman and Tessa Dare. Truly, I'm not worthy to shine their shoes, and I'm going to be there, with THEM! Can you hear me SQUEEEE?!?!?!?!?!
That's it for now, the novella (I really need come up with a title for it... like really soon!) will be out on the last week of June, just in time for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The boxed set will be titled SCANDALOUS SUMMER NIGHTS, so look for it this summer!
Oh... One more thing. I got a puppy two weeks ago. He's so cute. See? His name is Attila, and I obviously cannot walk up the hill as fast as he can. :-)
February 22, 2014 ~ Wow! Has it really been this long since I updated the News? I am so sorry! I will have to do better.
Would you forgive me if I told you I have exciting news? Because I do.... LOVING SARAH, Book Three of The Caversham Chronicles should be available for purchase on Monday 2/24/14. I can't say if it will be a.m. or p.m. yet, but I've been guaranteed to have the files back from my formatter before the end of the weekend. So barring any errors or complications, it will be made immediately for sale digitally, starting with Amazon, then going through all the vendors as the day progresses. I should be done with upload by the end of the day Monday. Also keep in mind it *can* take up to two weeks for the book to be available at some of the stores (like Apple's iBookstore.) But in my experience it has never been that long.
And I have other news too. :-) I have been invited and have agreed to participate in a multi-author boxed set, due to be released at the end of July (I think.) And I have decided to write a new story for this, rather than tear apart another collection I have that I wanted to publish as one book. That said, I'm writing Cav and Amelia's story because I've had quite a few people ask to see it, so I'm doing it!
When I first started to get requests from people for this story, it felt odd to me to write about a couple that dies before the start of Caversham's Bride, because you know Ren had to lose his father in order to become the duke. But as I conceived this series, I always knew that Ren had a great relationship with his dad, because... hey... it's my idea of a Romance! Also I've promised my husband (my biggest fan!) I will not take that novella so far into the story that you see them in the fight of their life with Cav's nephew (and Ren's cousin) Thomas, but rather it will end with their Happily Ever After. I'm outlining the story right now and got some great inspiration from a friend of mine today to help me with a sticky plot problem.
I will be signing at the Romantic Times Convention in New Orleans in May, and at the Literacy Signing Event at RWA National Convention in San Antonio in July this year. So if you're there, come by and say "Hi!" I always love meeting readers!
August 3, 2013 (again!) ~ You do know that I'm on Facebook, right? Here's my author page on Facebook, BUT the new news is that I have been working on a group for readers of The Caversham Chronicles, so you can see some of the stuff that I've found inspiring of characters and scenes, etc., AND you can ask me questions about the stories and characters. This all started because of a letter I received from a reader who had a few questions about the story, and I replied to her. That letter sparked and idea for me, but I kind of let it sit on a back burner until I took CJ Ellison's Facebook Marketing class through Author EMS. I highly recommend both CJ's classes (she's a great instructor,) and Author EMS. Amy and Co. are simply awesome with a two shots of fabulous!
Anyway, I have been building the group, and am about to take it "Live" in the next few days. I'm compiling my playlists for each book (and they're really long!) but as soon as I add those to the files section, I open it and make the group public. I hope to see you there!
August 3, 2013 ~ We're going to be starting production of the audio version of Already His soon, and I'm getting the 'script' ready for my readers. I really love the job that Victoria and Dennis do, and if you like them as well, drop me a line and I can give you their contact info if you're interested. (Or their links are below if you scroll down!)
July 29, 2013 ~ I was the featured author at StoryFinds today! How cool is that? Thanks, Renee for the honor!
July 27, 2013 ~ So I had a blast at conference as I usually do, and am proud to have been a part of the first ever RWA Indie Book Signing. I gave away lots of books, and met lots of other authors and readers! You all were understanding about my hand cramping during the signing, and... well, you ladies are the best, and I'm so proud to call you all my friends.
I did eventually get unpacked and I put the important stuff away (like the ton of freebie books I have to read!) and am back at work on the third and fourth books in my first series.
As of right now, 10:15 p.m. on 7/27/13, Caversham's Bride is #2 in Regency Bestsellers, and #6 in Historical Romance. For this honor, I thank all of you who have purchased, read, or reviewed my work. You have my most sincere thanks -- and if you want a kitten, I can set you up!
July 14, 2013 ~ Next week I will be in Atlanta for Romance Writers of America's annual conference, and I will be signing at the 2013 Indie Book Signing on Thursday afternoon from 3:00 to 4:15 p.m. at the Marriott Peachtree Hotel, in the Marquis Ballroom D. If you are in the area, do come by and see me. I'll sign a book for you if you'd like (while supplies last of course!)
June 6, 2013 ~ Caversham's Bride will be featured on StoryFinds First Chapter Spotlight in the June 9th edition!

May 11, 2013 ~ Caversham's Bride is now available as an audiobook, from Audible, Amazon, and iTunes. The audio version was a labor of love, not just for me, but also my husband who helped coordinate the hiring and did a great deal of the administrative interactions with ACX, our voice partners Dennis Kleinman and Victoria Mayers, and myself. While I was plowing through my edits for Already His, Curtis was handling stuff that would have forced me to stop my forward progress on edits.
If you haven't heard a sample, please click here and listen. I knew I wanted to do something different if were going to do audio one day. I'd only heard a few audio books, and being an avid reader, they weren't quite the same experience. For me, to hear a man doing the voices of several women in one scene was awkward to listen to. And conversely, to hear a woman doing several men, was equally odd. When I would imagine doing an audio for my books, I'd always envisioned the old style radio programs but thought that was unfeasible with a large cast. I'd hunted around on the web, found a group (Full Cast Audio) that did children's books, epic fantasy-type books, and some sci-fi with a full cast, but even that full cast was only a handful of very talented voice actors! But, more importantly, they didn't do Romance novels in this manner.
So I proposed this idea to Curtis, and then to Dennis Kleinman when he agreed to be my partner and voice actor. He recommended a lady he'd worked with before, and Curtis and I loved her voice from the minute we heard it. We were lucky to get Victoria Mayers to agree to work with us. She has, as does Dennis, such a wide range of character voices in her repertoire that even with all the different nationalities and accents represented in that first book, I had no worries that they could pull it off.
Now I think they more than pulled it off. They did a fantastic job with it, and I hope you like it enough that you'd want to buy it. But more than that, I hope all romance audiobooks are done this way in the future. It will keep some of us from nodding off while listening. Seriously. That was the main reason I didn't listen to them in the car while driving. Working out on the elliptical, yes. Driving to town, no.
Just imagine if more books (especially erotica romance!) were male/female casted... there'd be some hot flashes going on behind the wheel! Yep. I might could handle that. ;-)

May 4, 2013 ~ Already His is now available for purchase! This is the story of Elise, the sister of my hero in Caversham's bride, and his best friend Michael, the Earl of Camden. Elise has always loved Michael, and he's always thought of her as the annoying sister of his friend, the Duke of Caversham. Michael was obligated to the vow to keep sisters off limits, after all he initiated it! Lady Elise has noticed that Lord Camden isn't exactly immune to her, and has decided to pursue her plan of seduction with the ultimate goal of marrying her indifferent Earl. Michael wins his Lady's love in the end, but not without some heartbreak on Elise's part and major groveling on his.
Already His is now available for download at Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, All Romance eBooks, and Kobo and in print at Amazon and CreateSpace !

May 3, 2013 ~ All audio files for Caversham's Bride have been approved by myself and the voice actors. This means the audiobook will soon be available for purchase at Audible directly, or from Amazon. Their in-house verification/approval process can take up to two more weeks from what ACX said yesterday in our phone conference. Now... Forgive me, but I have to gush a minute and tell you all how very proud I am of how this has turned out. I've heard a few audiobooks over the years, admittedly not many, not because I didn't like them, but because I'm a reader, not a listener. So, when I started looking at doing audio for my works, I wanted something that brought the book to 'life' more than having one person narrating it. Go ahead, call me a child of the television era, but I needed characters playing off one another for the full experience! ;-) Listening to one person create a cast of characters just didn't do it for me, especially listening to a male voice actor do a group of females all on 'stage' at the same time. It was rather comical listening.
Anyway, long story short, I auditioned and hired two film actors, Dennis Kleinman and Victoria J. Mayers, and they have done an absolutely wonderful job with portraying Ren and Lia on audio. I love the job they did, and working with them was fabulous and easy.November, 18, 2012 ~ Caversham's Bride is now available for download at Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, All Romance eBooks, and kobo and in print at Amazon and CreateSpace !
Until it's available, here's a downloadable Sample (mp3) for you to listen to. It should be available very soon.

Welcome - old
